8. Wallace 'Wally' Beery

Wallace 'Wally' Beery

(1885-1949)

This fine original pencil portrait is inscribed “To Mr. Muller (the artist) / My best Wishes / Wally Beery” in a blank area below the portrait.

It is also signed and dated “5-27-32” by the highly skilled portrait artist H. E. Muller.

This is one of ten 'signed' beautifully executed Muller portraits of Hollywood legends being offered in this website. (See all 10 signed portraits)

Eight (of the 10) are 8.5” x 11” and two are slightly smaller. In matching frames they would make an impressive display in a business, office or home.

Beery joined the circus in 1902 and in 1904 he moved on to singing roles in Broadway musicals until about 1912 when he launched his movie career making silent comedy shorts before moving on to become a top Hollywood star as a character actor.

Beery won a ‘best actor’ Academy Award for his role as a retired boxer in the 1931 movie “The Champ”.  Beery was perhaps best known for his roles opposite Marie Dressler and Marjorie Main. Beery was married to Gloria Swanson from 1916 to 1918.

(Wallace is the half-brother of actor Noah Beery, Sr. and an uncle of actor Noah Beery, Jr.)

The paper size is 8.5” x 11”. Some marginal darkening from pencil smudges, but is in otherwise fine condition.

Price: $ 800
