9. Clara Bow

Clara Bow

(1905-1965)

Clara was a class of 1924 "WAMPAS Baby Star"

Clara was an extremely popular silent movie star. She appeared, usually in starring roles,  in 58 films between 1922 and 1933.

Her career really skyrocketed after her performance in "It"(1927). She also co-starred in the very successful film "Wings" in 1927.

Clara not only became famous as the 'It' girl, she was also acclaimed as the no.1 sex symbol in America and leading flapper of Roaring 20's.

Her heavy Brooklyn accent doomed her career in talkies. This, combined with personal and emotional problems, led to the rapid decline of her career in the early 1930's.

Clara married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 and retired from films in 1933, living in semi-seclusion on his ranch until her death in 1965.

This vintage  8" x 10" photo captures the essence of Clara's bubbly and energetic appeal about as well as any still photo could.

It is in fine condition with excellent inscription contrast.

Price: $900
