15. Nancy Carroll

Nancy Carroll

(1904-1965)

Nancy has the distinction of being the first Hollywood actress to sing and dance in a movie: "Abie's Irish Rose"(1928) which was filmed as a 'silent' but became a partial 'talkie' when a few sound sequences were added just prior to its' release.

After 1938, Nancy was very active on stage and in TV sitcoms.  She died suddenly at age 61 while appearing in a New York stage production.

This 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" original pencil portrait on borderless thin stock has been nicely inscribed "Fondest Wishes / Nancy Carroll".

"Nov 24,1931  Virginia Joss" is written in pencil along the bottom edge of the reverse side.  I believe Joss to be the artist.

In fine condition with excellent inscription contrast.

Price: $ 75
