This fine original pencil portrait is inscribed and signed twice by Lloyd. Once, in white ink on his shoulder in the portrait: “To Mr Muller My best wishes / Harold Lloyd” and then again, boldly in black ink, in a blank area below the portrait: “With my best wishes for H.E.Muller./Harold Lloyd”.
It is also signed and dated “3.11.34” by the highly skilled portrait artist H. E. Muller.
This is one of ten 'signed' beautifully executed Muller portraits of Hollywood legends being offered in this website. (See all 10 signed portraits)
Eight (of the 10) are 8.5” x 11” and two are slightly smaller. In matching frames they would make an impressive display in a business, office or home.
Harold began his film career in 1913 and soon became an extremely popular and successful silent movie comic.
His success continued into the early days of the talkies and. although his voice was suitable for talkies, Lloyd’s comic style didn't suit depression audiences and his film successes and career essentially ended in the mid-1930's. In retirement Lloyd maintained his reputation as a nice, accessible and very rich Beverly Hills resident.
The paper size is 8.5” x 11”. Some marginal darkening from pencil smudges, but in otherwise fine condition.
