4. Freddie Bartholomew
  Freddie Bartholomew

(1924-1992)

Freddie was born in England and began his career there at age 3.  He was extremely professional and well-mannered and became the second most famous child actor of the 1930's (after Shirley Temple).

Freddie's major early film credits include "David Copperfield" (1935), "Captain's Courageous" (1937 and "Swiss Family Robinson" (1940).

The 1940's were troubled times for Freddie; his traditional 'costume' roles fell from favor, replaced by more audience interest in what was happening in the world at that time.

Hard times and personal tragedies plagued him for many years, only relenting in later life when good fortune returned and allowed him to enjoy his last years.
